IdeaSpace Announces 10 Winners of US$12.5K Funding

Philippine startup incubator IdeaSpace has announced the ten winners of its national startup competition. The startups will each receive P500k (USD 12k) in seed funding and six months of incubation, where they will get office space, business operations support, and housing facilities for those not based in Metro Manila.

During the incubation period, the more promising startups could receive additional cash support from IdeaSpace of up to P5 million. Teams will also be introduced to other investors in Philippines, Silicon Valley, and other parts of the world.

I've read a lot about companies and groups coming up with programs that are aimed to tap into the potentials of entrepreneurs. They are venture capitalists whose ultimate goal is to discover bright new innovative ideas that could make a fortune, and give them a lot of bragging rights to say they invested on that entrepreneur's little project which that's now making a name in the technology industry - meaning the next Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

After the successful releases of their Future Scheduler and Location Alerts apps, Appsicum has just released another new app they call Photo Album. From the name itself, it is obviously a photo organizer whom they boasts as currently the most unique and advanced photo book and album creating app as of this writing.

With this app you can automatically create albums, based on GPS Location data, Ratings, Tags, EXIF Data, Date etc. It is the only app which also works as a full-fledged photo organization tool! If you don’t want to use albums, you will still find it very useful to manage your photos with folders, tags, EXIF Metadata and so on.

There’s this company that tries to change the rules of giving support to startups, and they call themselves iZone-iHub.

They advertise themselves as a tech venue where every I.T. person (that includes the nerds, dorks, dweebs and geeks) can go and make use of their FREE services and facilities – Internet access, coffee, computers, even digital projectors, and even assistance form an onsite techie.

Sencha Demonstrates HTML 5 Can Be Faster Than Native iOS or Android Apps

You've heard that Facebook switched from HTML 5 to "native" apps on iOS and Android recently to "speed them up." That pissed off the developers from Sencha http://www.sencha.com/

So they built a Facebook app completely in HTML 5 that's even faster than the native Android and iOS apps that Facebook released.

Sencha builds HTML 5 programming tools and the video discuss the market for app developers and the choices they have to make.
 
I've high hopes for HTML 5! A little caveat though - this is a promo for Sencha. But still...

If they can make an HTML 5 web app that is/can be faster than native apps, then why can't we? Practice time!

....and yes indeed! It did allowed me to get a chance to experience using a tablet PC when the branded counterparts were way too expensive.

This is where I got my Onda Valkeyrie V712 tablet PC of which I am very satisfied with regards to the looks, features and performance. I never encountered any problems so far. It was very dependable and suitable for my basic needs of surfing the web, checking my e-mails and Facebook timeline, plus the added photo and video capturing capability - and immediate upload via an Internet wi-fi connection when available.

Their stores also sells accessories or peripherals to maximize the usage of your tablet PCs.

With the proliferation of so many technologies available to an individual nowadays, this reality is having a sweeping impact on the way we live, work and enjoy life. Aside from a desktop PC, you probably also have a laptop, a smartphone, a digital camera and a tablet or "phablet" - phone tablet - PC. I very much believe I am not alone when I say so many of us have multiple mobile devices we use in our daily routine. It would be nice if I can access all that I want from my own personal device. In this day and age, the line between personal time and professional time is already very blurry. Though some admit that they purposely limit the capabilities of a device, it is done basically to cut down on cost. However, the quality and multi-functionality of a device is sacrificed. So unless a valiant technopreneur decides to give it all out for the consumers advantage, we might still have to lug with a lot of devices.
