Asus Vivobook X202E Windows 8 Touchscreen PC Review

Written By Wazzup Pilipinas on Miyerkules, Disyembre 26, 2012 | 4:50 AM

A review from a user who just recently purchased an Asus Vivobook X202E.

Initial Impressions:

1. Very responsive touchscreen, no lags, no missed touches.
2. Viewing angle is bad. You need to be looking straight on the screen.
3. Touch pad not so good. Too sensitive Asus smart gesture. I would always accidentally activate the charms bar at the right using the regular scrolling on the touch pad.
4. Start up and shutdown, a bit slow. I think an SSD drive would have been better.
5. Windows 8 is really cool. Downloaded Start8 for the start menu. What's good about this is that it has multilanguage support.

Overall, solid feel, nice brushed metal texture.

Lenovo Premieres the IdeaPad Yoga and ThinkPad Twist Designed for Windows 8

Written By Wazzup Pilipinas on Lunes, Disyembre 10, 2012 | 1:53 AM

Coming directly from the airport from our trip to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, I made the right decision on attending the Lenovo launch of its newest Ultrabook, ThinkPad and IdeaPad releases. This was held at the Balcony restaurant in Legazpi Village Makati City.

Attended by mostly tech-oriented writers and bloggers, the event organizers wanted to have the guests wearing a superhero identity, but only one came in a military attire who was even carrying a toy armalite. ....and oh, there was another one wearing an Ironman mask. So eventually the price of 5k worth of Gift Checks went to the only guy who came in a hero attire.

Storing digital data has been a perennial problem since the times of floffy drives. Now, even with terabyte sizes of storage devices, our needs for storage grows with the increasing demand and availability of personal, work and multimedia files (audio, video, apps and data).

WD recently announced comprehensive support for new storage features in Windows 8 and an app for the new Windows user interface that makes it easy to discover, enjoy and backup digital media and files.

The WD app for Windows 8 automatically discovers digital content on connected WD direct attached storage solutions and showcases those photos, videos and music on a live tile on the Start screen. Within the app, customers can easily find and enjoy their digital content as well as share their media via email and social media sites with the Share charm. Windows 8 automatically installs the WD app for certified WD products or it can be downloaded from the Windows Store.

Microsoft Secure Boot Could Ban Windows From PCs

Written By Wazzup Pilipinas on Linggo, Setyembre 2, 2012 | 5:51 AM

When Windows 8 computers start shipping later this year, they will come with a brand-new firmware feature called Secure Boot (UEFI). A year ago, Linux lovers were worrying that Secure Boot was going to somehow give Linux the boot, but now it looks like there’s a brand-new twist to the story. It could be used to keep Microsoft’s software from running on a computer.

Asus Vivo Tab and Asus Vivo Tab RT

The Asus Vivo tablets got its name from the Latin word "to live" and the units were designed for the Windows 8 operating system.

Vivo has a dual-purpose design that combines a high-resolution multi-touch Super IPS+ display with a detachable QWERTY keyboard dock to provide a great Windows 8 experience. ASUS TruVivid technology with Corning Fit Glass gives improved colour clarity and superior scratch resistance, while the keyboard not only transforms Vivo into a convenient clamshell ultraportable, but also provides a secondary battery for prolonged mains-free use.
